Unit Activities

Aside from Search and Rescue missions, the unit also participates in community events such as:

• On-water Safety Patrol during Salmon Festival Fireworks Display
• New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim on-water Safety Patrol
• Security patrol around vessels during specific waterfront events in Port Alberni, such as the Tall Ships' visits in Port Alberni in 2005 and 2008.
• Pleasure Vessel Courtesy Check: A program where a specially trained volunteer, at the request of a boat owner, checks a pleasure boat for compliance with boating regulations.
• Companion vessel and Security Patrol for First Nations canoe carrying the Olympic Torch in 2010 (pictured below)
