Who We Are

We are the Port Alberni Marine Rescue Society, also known as Unit 39 of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary - Pacific Region, an all volunteer group dedicated to the Saving of Lives on the Water.

The Society was founded in 1992 so that the group could attain charitable status and thus enable donors to receive a tax deduction on any donations.

CCGA Unit 39, however, had existed since at least the latter half of the 1970's with members providing their own boats for rescue missions.

We now use dedicated Fast Response Craft for our Search and Rescue missions.
